Refuse Services
The City of Tulsa uses Covanta's Walter B. Hall Resource
Recovery Facility to dispose of solid waste.
Since 1993, Tulsa has offered an extensive recycling program
through the depots operated by Metropolitan Environmental Trust
(M.e.t.) and the twice-annual Fairgrounds Pollutant Collection
Events. In addition, in 1999, the City expanded recycling services
by offering a fee-based, voluntary, curbside program to residential
refuse customers.
Waste has also been reduced by the implementation of the
yard-waste drop-off program. Tub grinding reduces the waste to
mulch that is then offered free-of-charge to anyone for pick
up. More than 100,000 tons of tree limbs, brush and other yard
waste are converted to mulch in a single year. The address of the

Residential refuse service in the northwest quadrant of Tulsa is
provided by City of Tulsa collection crews. Residential refuse
service in the remainder of the city is provided by the contractor
Tulsa Refuse Inc. Residential refuse customers also are provided
free bulky waste collection
services.
As part of an ongoing anti-litter campaign, the City of Tulsa
provides illegal dumping cleanup and litter pick-up programs. Twice
yearly free landfill service days are offered to Tulsa residents.
Neighborhood associations may request dumpsters to be provided for
neighborhood clean-up projects throughout the year.
