Individually Written Industry Best Management Practices
Industrial business can develop and implement
Best Management Practices in lieu of a wastewater discharge permit.
The industry writes their own policies on how they will stay in
compliance with local discharge limits for pollutants. The minimum
components of an approved BMP include the following:
- A description of the facility's industrial processes;
- A detailed description of the facility's Wastewater treatment
operations;
- A list and description of the chemicals used or stored at the
facility;
- Policies and procedures for employee training;
- A detailed description of the facility's pollution prevention
policies and procedures;
- A detailed description of the methods used for minimizing, to
the greatest practical extent, adverse environmental impact;
and
- Other information as required by the Director.
