*Announcement - Change in fees

Effective May 1, 2010, the City of Tulsa will begin collecting the State mandated fee of $4.00 for the Uniform Building Code Commission (UBCC) and $0.50 for the administration that results from the collection. This fee will be charged on all permits issued by the City which authorize work governed by codes within the purview of the UBCC in compliance with 59 O.S. Section 1000.25. All fees collected for the Uniform Building Code Commission will be remitted to the State monthly.

Residential Fast-Track Program

A new Residential Priority Review option for new homes, remodeling and additions to residential properties can speed up the permitting process and allow contractors and homeowners to get their permits approved in one sitting.

There is no additional charge for the faster service, but applicants must take several steps to be prepared for the one-stop plans review process.

The change is being welcomed by the building community and was discussed at Mayor Dewey Bartlett's recent business forums held throughout Tulsa to give local business owners opportunities to discuss how the City could make it easier to do business locally.

If major revisions are needed to bring plans into compliance with building codes, the traditional review process may be required.

"As Tulsa works to recover from the worst economic recession in many decades, it is important for the City to work with businesses and developers to help them do business more efficiently. We hope this change in the residential building permitting process helps both the builders and their customers get their construction projects approved more quickly," said Mayor Bartlett.
