Supplemental life insurance is also available for the employee, spouse and children with variable rates based on salary, the employee's age and/or the amount of coverage selected.

Long-term Disability Insurance

This insurance provides income in the event a disability occurs, whether on or off the job. You must be unable to perform the material duties of your occupation due to a disease or injury. Based on the employee's age when the disability commences, he/she may be eligible to receive benefits to age 65 or beyond.  Employees are eligible to accrue the disability benefits after they have been disabled 90 days.

The benefits previously discussed are effective on the first of the month following 30 calendar days of full-time employment. (A detailed benefit orientation will be conducted for new employees the 1st and 16th of each month on the 3rd floor of City Hall. Initial benefit enrollment and changes may be made on our new online system.)

Retirement Plan

Employees defer 4% on a pre-tax basis and direct those funds into a retirement account. Full-time employees will begin participation in the plan on the first day of the month following their first day of employment. The Rule of Eighty eliminates the age requirement and provides retirement income when continuous service and age equal 80.
