Long-term Disability Insurance
This insurance provides income in the event a disability occurs,
whether on or off the job. You must be unable to perform the
material duties of your occupation due to a disease or
injury. Based on the employee's age when the disability
commences, he/she may be eligible to receive benefits to age 65 or
beyond. Employees are eligible to accrue the disability
benefits after they have been disabled 90 days.
The benefits previously discussed are effective on the
first of the month following 30 calendar days of full-time
employment. (A detailed benefit orientation will be
conducted for new employees the 1st and 16th
of each month on the 3rd floor of City Hall.

Employees defer 4% on a pre-tax basis and direct those funds into a
retirement account. Full-time employees will begin
participation in the plan on the first day of the month following

earnings. This defined benefit plan is managed by a
seven member Board of Trustees who decides how the assets are

The Rule of Eighty eliminates the age requirement and
provides retirement income when continuous service and age equal
